Bottom Line: Barnes and Noble is an excellent place to hang out if you're looking for a quiet place to study away from campus. For $25 annually you can get a membership card which will allow you to save 10% on almost all B&N merchandise in store or online.

ELECTRONICS

Bottom Line: Best Buy sells video games, movies and CDs, digital cameras, computers and accessories, video and audio players, electrical appliances - anything associated with technology that will soon become outdated. Their movie and CD prices are among the lowest anywhere and Best Buy is always a place to consider if you're looking for anything electronic. Note: You should also consider searching online first. They often have "Free Shipping on Everything" deals that might just save you a car trip.

Bottom Line: Circuit City rivals Best Buy in its electronics selection and its prices can be just as competitive. There's also a store located by Arundel Mills if you ever planned on going shopping down there.

Bottom Line: Featuring computer and game accessories, batteries, cameras, phones, and much more, Radio Shack contains merchandise from the everyday to the eccentric.

Bottom Line: It's conveniently located close to campus, so if you hate the bookstore prices on office supplies, you might as well come here.

Bottom Line: Martha Stewart scandal aside, Kmart is still a good place to get some basic supplies, although you're probably better off with Wal-mart since it's closer to campus.

Directions: Take I-95 north to Exit 67A, then take the ramp onto MD-7 (Philadelphia Rd.); turn left onto Philadelphia Rd. Within a mile, make a right onto Campbell Blvd.
Bottom Line: Of the three supercenters, Target has arguably the best taste in product design, appearance, and quality. That said, it is still pretty far from campus; this location is up in White Marsh (other locations in Glen Burnie and Towson), so it's not that convenient to get to.

Sam's Club [By Car]

Directions: Go east on Pratt St. and turn right on Light St. Turn left onto Key Highway and follow it to the end. Make a right onto McComas St. but do not get onto I-95 S. Instead, look for the U-turn on the left side after you see a Port Covington sign. Make the U-turn, turn right at the traffic light, and the entrance to Wal-Mart should be on your left side.
Bottom Line: It's relatively close to campus, which makes Wal-Mart one of the more convenient stores to get what you need. There's also a Sam's Club next door and the gas station operated by Wal-Mart is among the cheapest in the city.

Bottom Line: Specializes in althetic shoes and apparel, but located in a somewhat sketchy area one block east of Lexington Market.

Bottom Line: Compared to Sam's Club, Costco has a better and classier selection of items. New membership costs $45. Other locations at Arundel Mills and White Marsh.

Bottom Line: Next to Wal-Mart, Sam's club has groceries in bulk, as well as a limited selection of electronics, housewares, books, clothing, and media, which means that although generally cheaper, you're buying a lot at one time. You need a membership card, $35 annually, to shop at Sam's Club to avoid an upcharge.
