Although you'll need a car to get to the movie theater, there is a fairly good selection of movie theaters around the Baltimore area. Just hardly any in the downtown itself. From Security Blvd., turn left onto Rolling Rd. and the theater is on your left. Bottom Line: It's pretty far away from downtown, located in the Security Square Mall. Charles Theatre www.thecharles.com Address: 1711 N. Charles St. Phone: 410-727-FILM Hours: TBA Directions: Take Charles St. north and you will see it one-and-a-half blocks north of Penn Station. Bottom Line: The Charles has the unique distinction of offering first-run specialty films in addition to Hollywood movies, foreign films and cinema classics. The 1150-seat, 23,000 square-foot movie house is located in one of Charles street's most intriguing Historic buildings. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express accepted at ticket booth. Make a left off the ramp and you should see the theater on the left side. Bottom Line: This is one of the closest theaters to campus (other than Charles Theatre). Stadium seating. It's not spectacular, but it's functional. Loews Cinaplex at the Avenue at White Marsh www.enjoytheshow.com Address: 8141 Honeygo Blvd. Phone: 410-933-9428 Hours: TBA Directions: Take I-95 North to the White Marsh exit, Exit 67B. Make a left at the first light onto Honeygo Blvd. You will see the complex on the left side across from the White Marsh Mall. Bottom Line: In White Marsh. Features stadium seating; call for movie times and listings. Muvico Egyptian 24 Theaters in Arundel Mills www.muvico.com Address: 7000 Arundel Mills Circle; Hanover, MD Phone: 410-755-8992 Hours: Sun.-Thu. 10:30am-11pm; Fri. 10am-1am; Sat. 9:30am-1am Directions: From I-95S or MD 295S, turn onto Rt. 100E. and take the Arundel Mills Blvd. exit (MD-713S, exit 10A). Follow the signs to Arundel Mills (you can't miss it from here!) Bottom Line: Part of the Arundel Mills complex, Muvico features an Egyptian-themed theater with stadium seating. Check the website for movie times and listings. The Rotunda Cinematheque www.senator.com Address: 711 W. 40th St. Phone: 410-235-4800 Hours: Box office opens daily at 11:45am Directions: Take Charles St. north to University Parkway. Turn left at University Parkway, and left again two lights later at 40th St. You will see the Rotunda on the left side after a few blocks. Bottom Line: It's a small theater - only 2 screens at any one time. However, it's in a beautiful historic building and you might enjoy the change of pace. Call before you go to confirm times. Phone: 410-435-8338 Hours: Box office opens daily at 1:15pm Directions: Going north on Howard St., make a right onto North Ave. and then a left on Greenmount Ave. which will turn into York Ave. after about 2 miles. Bottom Line: Like the Rotunda, it's a small theater - only 1 screen, but a garguantuan screen at that! The historic Senator Theater specializes in art/specialty movies, so don't expect traditional fare here. Call before you go to confirm times.
