Here is a listing of nearby malls if you are thinking of going shopping on those rare breaks from school.

WALKING DISTANCE

Harborplace: Gallery and Pavilions
www.harborplace.com
Address: Intersection of Light St. and Pratt St.
Phone: 410-332-4191
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-9pm, Sun. 11am-7pm
Directions: From campus, head east on Pratt St. You will see the Gallery on the left at the intersection with Calvert St. The Pratt St. and Light St. Pavilions will be visible on the right side.
Bottom Line: Only a mile or so from campus, the Gallery and Pavilions are easily walkable and provide enough of a distraction to make a weekend trip or two. The Gallery features famous and upscale stores, including Banana Republic, Victoria's Secret, and SunCoast Motion Picture Co., to name a few, while the Pavilions have restaurants such as Cheesecake Factory and Phillips Seafood as well as more "touristy" stores such as Hats in the Belfry and the Fudgery. Whatever your shopping and eating habits, you'll be sure to stop here on many occasions during your time here in Baltimore.

BY CAR

Arundel Mills
www.arundelmills.com
Address: 700 Arundel Mills Circle; Hanover, MD
Phone: 410-540-5110
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-9:30pm, Sun. 11am-7pm
Directions: From I-95S or MD 295S, turn onto Rt. 100E. and take the Arundel Mills Blvd. exit (MD-713S, exit 10A). Follow the signs to Arundel Mills (you can't miss it from here!)
Bottom Line: Arundel Mills is HUGE and, in addition to stores, features a movie theater, the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, and Jillians, an entertainment complex. In addition to typical stores that you may find in a mall, Arundel Mills also houses larger stores such as TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory, and Saks 5th Factory Outlet. There's plenty of shopping to do, and you can easily spend half a day (or more!) walking around Arundel.

The Avenue at White Marsh
www.theavenueatwhitemarsh.com
Address: 8125 Honeygo Blvd.
Phone: 410-931-0411
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-9pm, Sun. 11am-6pm
Directions: Take I-95N to the White Marsh exit, Exit 67B. Make a left at the first light onto Honeygo Blvd. You will see the complex on the left side across from the White Marsh Mall.
Bottom Line: This is an outdoor shopping mall with stores that include Ann Taylor Loft, Old Navy, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Staples, and several cafés. There is also a Loews ciniplex here if you're looking to see a movie on the big screen.

The Mall in Columbia
www.themallincolumbia.com
Address: 10300 Little Patuxent Parkway; Columbia, MD
Phone: 410-730-3300
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-9:30pm, Sun. 11am-6pm
Directions: Take I-95S to MD-175W, and go about 6 miles (road will turn into Little Patuxent Parkway). The mall will be on your right.
Bottom Line: Anchored by Nordstrom, Hecht's, Lord & Taylor, JC Penney, and Sears, with LL Bean and AMC Theaters nearby, it might be worth a visit here if you're a fan of any of these mall anchors. The food court here is huge. Columbia is a pretty town and the setting is a nice break from center city life, but may not be the ideal place to go if you only have an hour or two to shop.

Mondawmin Mall
Address: 1200 Mondawmin Concourse
Phone: 410-523-1534
Hours: TBA
Directions: Go north on MLK Blvd. and turn left onto Pennsylvania Ave., which will become Reistertown Rd. Turn left onto Ocala Ave. and then left onto Liberty Heights Ave (MD-26E). Mondawmin Mall is approximately 3.5 miles from campus.
Bottom Line: While this mall is in the directory for the sake of completeness, you probably won't be visitng here unless you're visiting the MVA to do something legal for your car. While there is a food court and some chain stores such as Rite-Aid, Payless Shoes, Rave, and Foot Locker, most of the other stores are designed for budget shoppers and do not house high-quality merchandise, and you'd probably be better off walking to the Harbor and shopping there.

Owings Mills
www.owingsmillsmall.com
Address: Suite 2102, 10300 Mill Run Circle
Phone: 410-363-7000
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-9:30pm, Sun. 11am-6pm
Directions: Take I-83N to I-695W to I-795N (Exit 19) to Owings Mill Blvd. (Exit 4). Going towards Town Center, take a slight left onto Red Run Blvd., and make a left onto Mill Run Circle.
Bottom Line: I've never been here, so give me your take after you visit, ok?

The Rotunda
Address: 711 W. 40th St.
Phone: 410-235-0534
Hours: Varies by vendor.
Directions: Take Charles St. north to University Parkway. Turn left at University Parkway, and left again two lights later at 40th St. You will see the Rotunda on the left side after a few blocks.
Bottom Line: The Rotunda is a beautiful building housing a supermarket (Giant), drugstore (Rite-Aid), bookstore, one restaurant (Casa Mia Pizza and Subs), a Hair Cuttery salon, and a few other shops. The Senator Theater is here and plays feature films in its two auditoriums. Compared to other malls like the Gallery and Arundel Mills, the Rotunda isn't that much, and you'll probably just find it more of a convenience rather than a shopping destination.

Security Square Mall
www.securitysquare.com
Address: 6901 Security Blvd.
Phone: 410-265-6000
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-9:30pm; Sun. 12pm-6pm
Directions: Take Exit 17B (Security Blvd.) off of I-695 (near I-70 junction). From Security Blvd., turn left into the mall.
Bottom Line: Anchored by Hecht's, sears, Burlington Coat Factory, Old Navy, Cactus Willies, and International Furniture, Security Square provides an alternative to some of the higher-priced stores in other big malls.

White Marsh Mall
www.whitemarshmall.com
Address: 8200 Perry Hall Blvd.
Phone: 410-931-7100
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-9:30pm, Sun. 11am-6pm
Directions: Take I-95N to the White Marsh exit, Exit 67B. Make a left at the first light onto Honeygo Blvd. You will see the mall on the right after passing by IKEA.
Bottom Line: Anchored by JC Penney, Sears, Hecht's, and Macy's, and right next to IKEA, White Marsh Mall may be worth a visit if you're tired of the Gallery and Harborplace. Be warned, though, that it's a bit of a drive from campus, and travel time can top 30 minutes if the traffic starts to get heavy.

FURTHER AWAY

King of Prussia Mall
www.kingofprussiamall.com
Address: 160 N. Gulph Rd.; King of Prussia, PA (Rt. 202 at Mall Blvd.)

Directions: Take I-95N into Philadelphia (portions toll) and merge onto I-76W. Exit at Exit 327 onto Mall Blvd. which will put you directly into the mall complex.
Bottom Line: One of the biggest malls on the East Coast, anchors include Bloomingdale's, JC Penney, Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Sears, and Strawbridges in three different complexes. Over 350 stores in total in almost 350 million square feet of retail space. Parking is free. While you're here, you might as well visit the city of Philadelphia as well.
